It depends on the size of your Ranger. First of all I would suggest look in your truck or owner's manual. That should tell you what size of a tank you have. If you don't have one and your Ranger is a typical single cab, short bed the largest fuel tank possible would be an 18gal. Tank sizes will vary between with what the truck is built for. Crew cabs w/short beds are for hualing people with little supplys. That kind of Ranger would be modified to carry a maximum fuel load of 20gal. Single/Ext. Cab w/full or long beds will tend to have a maximum of 20-25gal(varying cab and bed combinations).
All I know is the 1992 2.3L truck held about 16 gallons. I bet yours is about the same. The Super Cabs with the V-6 motors hold about 20.
