My wife (heavier gas foot than me, mostly around town) would get around 15mpg in our 1995 town car w/4.6 liter V8. I would get 18 to 22 mpg w/ half hwy half freeway. The car loved to cruise at hwy speeds. I once drove a full tank down hwy 5 in CA w/ windows closed, AC on, on cruise control at 70mph, never touching gas or brakes, and got 30mpg! But that was not at all typical
