If you don't include the Virtual Console re-releases of the Genesis games (Sonic 1, 2, 3, Sonic & Knuckles, Sonic Spinball, and Sonic 3D Blast), there's only a handful.

Both part of the 'storybook' sub-series, these find Sonic pulled into Fairy Tales or mythology and using his speed and abilities to put things right and find his way back to his world. Both games recevied middleing to positive reviews.

Sonic Unleashed

Release on all three current-gen consoles, this game finds Sonic under the curse of the Werehog, combining 3D linear "speed" levels during the day, with Werehog levels focusing more on 3D platforming and beat'em'up levels during the night. The game received mixed-to-negative reviews on all three systems, although the Wii version gernered more praise for better level design and more daytime speed-oriented levels.

Sonic Colors

A new release for Sonic, harkening back to his days as a 2D platformer. This game switches between 2D and the liner 3D speed levels from the previous Wii games. So far, this is one of the most well-received Sonic games in the last 10 years, even faring better than the recently-released Sonic the Hedgehog 4.

Sonic The Hedgehog 4 - Episode 1-?

Release through WiiWare is Sonic's first all-new 2D outing since Sonic & Knuckles in 1994. Going back to his 2D roots, and continuing the story from where we last left our heroes at the end of Sonic & Knuckles, this retro iteration received accolades for style, but the gameplay left a sour note in the voices of most reviewers.

Also, Sonic starred in the racing game "Sonic Free Riders: Zero Gravity", and the "Mario and Sonic at the Olympics" series, a collection of minigames based on Olympic sports.
