Nobody knows. This in itself is a sad fact. The number is always growing. More than 90% of the homeless are in urban areas.

According to estimates by the National Law Center on Homelessness and Poverty (NLCHP) (see the Related Link below), the number of "homeless" people in the United States at any one time could be between 700,000 and 3 million.
