Unfortunately, the trains you need to take are only available 3 days a week. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday, you can take the Texas Eagle from Dallas at 12:20 pm and arrive in Los Angeles at 9:40 am two days later. You will then switch to a Pacific Surfliner train leaving LA 12:25 pm and arriving in San Diego at 3:10 pm. You can return on Sunday, Wednesday or Friday leaving San Diego at 9:30 am and arriving in LA at 12:15 pm. You will then switch to the Texas Eagle leaving LA at 2:30 pm and arriving in Dallas at 3:20 pm two days later.
