China: Japan invaded and committed some of the worst atrocities ever heard of against the Chinese civilians. Britain: Once Germany started bombing Britain, it wasn't safe anywhere in Britain. Civilians had to run to the bomb shelters, if they could get there in time. Their homes were completely destroyed. Germany: Towards the end of the war, Germany civilians were left without Shelter,Food,Water, and Heat. Really though if you were Jewish you had it the worst. In all of Europe, the Jews were rounded up and killed.

No one ever counted considering in Germany many of the cities had all their homes bombed and in the other countries The Nazis bombed out many cities. Warsaw was leveled. Parts of other cities and London were severely damaged. It has to be a figure in the hundreds of thousands or at least a million considering how many families were killed.
Housing changed in their styles, costs, building materials and mortgaging methods. In Britain they had special programs for the people who lost their homes which helped them get a new house and the homes where quickly built stick frame homes rather than the older brick styles of the homes that were bombed. In the USA new homes were built in the development style where all the homes looked basically alike and were approximately the same price as set by the developer. There were GI programs that helped the GIs to buy new homes. This trend of developer communities continued to this present day.
