To lose 1 kg, you theoretically have to cut back on 3850 calories per week or 550 calories per day. Instead of cutting back on calories alone, you can burn some calories by exercising (see Activity Calculators for calories burnt for each type of activity).

A deficit of approximately 3500 calories in a week, should translate to a pound lost. Less calories will not necessarily equal more weight loss. Metabolic rate could decrease if the calorie restriction is to drastic. Instead of cutting 500 calories per day from your diet. try only cutting 100, but increasing activity levels through out the day. weight loss might come slower but it will be healthier and more effective in the long run. Weight loss is a very complex issue with many variables, seek professional help in the form of a doctor, if it is severe obesity, also a registered dietician and a personal trainer.

one gram of fat gives 9 calories.

one pound is about 450 grams then it would give 4050 calories.

one kilogram is 2.2 pounds then it would give about 8910 calories.

One pound of fat is approximately 3500 calories. Since one kilogram is approximately 2.2 pounds, one kilogram of fat is equal to 7700 calories.

I am fairly confident that 3500 calories must be burned to lose one pound. Since 1 kg = 2.2 pounds, the answer you seek = 2.2 x 3500.
