The M16 can fire 3000 rounds before it jams. This is because the M16 isn't a spring rifle (like the AK47 or SA80). The carbon is forced up a small pipe down the side of the rifle and released through 2 holes in the breach. This makes the pipe block up when too much carbon passes through and the breach blocks up too, preventing rounds from being loaded into the breach for firing. The M4 is the same rifle, just it's shorter which makes it jam after 300 rounds due to the same reasons. In th US Army there's (on average) only 1 soldier in every 650 who can replace the pipe and clear the breach properly and it takes around an hour to do each one. Other weapons like the AK47 or the SA80 (L85) don't jam nearly as much becasue the spring breaks the carbon up. Hope this helps.
Magazines for the M16 are made in 20 and 30 round capacity.
It has the potential to jam the same way any other rifle does. Poor quality magazines have been an issue, failed extraction was an issue on earlier models (largely rectified by the addition of chrome lining and the issuance of cleaning kits), accumulation of carbon in the action.
No
It depends strictly on the magazine. Some magazines hold 10 rounds, some hold 30 or more.
No, the Mini-14 and M16 magazines are not the same. They have different designs and dimensions to accommodate each rifle's specific feeding and operating mechanisms. It is important to use the correct magazine for each rifle to ensure proper functionality and reliability.
No. M16/M4/STANAG 4179 magazines are much more compact than AK mags.
In terms of most magazines on popular models such as the m16, m4, ak47, etc... yes.
The clips themselves held ten rounds each. Those were used to load magazines, which varied in capacity. In the earlier stages of the M16s service life, 20 round magazines were the standard issue. In the late 1960s, 30 round magazines became available, and have been the standard since. Magazines of varying capacities have been designed for the M16, AR-15, and other rifle types which use the STANAG 4179 magazine. Five and ten round magazines were manufactured for the civil market, while magazines in capacities of 35 and 60 rounds, as well as drum magazines with capacities of 90, 100, and 120 rounds, have been manufactured.
M16s during the Vietnam era were typically issued with 20 round magazines, although a limited supply of 30 round magazines was manufactured for the military during this time.
The war the game is about was before the M16 was developed for VietNam
The M16 assault rifle was originally issued with STANAG magazines with a 20-round capacity. However, a 30-roundmagazine has now become the norm. 100-round Beta C-Mags are also available. But of course, only one round can be chambered at a time.
There are 20 and 30 round magazines. some even 10 rounds There is also a "BETA Mag" that holds 100 rounds. It uses to drums of ammo that attach underneath it. They are heavy and only used for mounted m16's or over watch duty.
