None at all. Medals are awarded as they're earned (or as unit politics dictate, but that's a separate matter entirely). Nobody in the military is required to have been awarded any medals, at all.

As answered above, no medals are required to be in the military. However, you're certain to have a few because by just successfully completing the basic training course, you will receive a medal. Also, many times, the whole unit receive a medal for some achievement. Being a member of that unit during that time will allow you to have that medal too even if you might not have done anything special.
