NO, NO, NO,!!! tow only if you disconnect drive shaft. I have had to fix to many KIA sportages with BLOWN trannys because of attempting to TOW.
1995 thru 2002 Kia sportages are all the same.
As a Technician at A Kia Dealership, i have not seen too many vehicle's with broken plugs/replace plugs every 30,000 miles and you shouldn't have a problem
rule of thumb on Kia sportages, when the gas pump indicator lights you better be close to a gas station. enough said.
Cheap Kia Sportages can be found locally through used car dealers. They can also be purchased used through Kia dealers and from private individuals who advertise them for sale.
On the 2005 model it is located near the top of the engine block on the right hand side of the engine, just above the alternator.
The best place to check out used Kia Sportages would be to go to your nearest Kia Motors America dealership and sales lots. One could also check their local listings in the Classified section of their newspaper as well. Kia also holds liquidation events from time to time, where they sell used Kia Sportages from past years at substantially reduced prices. It would also be wise to check listings on the internet at websites such as CarTrader and Edmunds. Read up on the model in Edmunds, Consumer Reports and get a CarFax report to be sure you are getting a quality used Kia Sportage and not a "lemon."
The sohc engines were, the dohc engines are not the above info is wrong ,DOHC is an interference engine on Kia sportages ,i rebuild them all the time, please replace timing belts when specified, damage can be tremendous.
good question, i have worked on sportages for 13 years and never had to replace one yet. Let me know how long it takes.
i want to say it is behind the glove compartment. The heater cores go out so infrequently on sportages i have basically forgotten. May have changed out 2 in fifteen years.
The Kia 1.8 liter engine is a Mazda engine used in the Protege' from the mid-90s. That and the 2.0 liter engine used in 1994-2002 Sportages were used from Mazda and if the timing belt breaks, it will NOT damage the valves, thus a non-interference engine.
