You may get 200,000 miles and you may only get 75,000 miles. All you can do is change the fuel filter every 50,000 miles and hope for the best. A partially clogged fuel filter will shorten the life of any fuel pump.

How many miles can you go in your Lexus rx when the get gas light comes on?

30 miles if you have clean fuel in your tank. If you run your tank out of fuel you risk damaging your fuel pump. Fuel pump replacement cost around 1000 dollars so don't run your tank out of fuel.

How often should you change your fuel pump?

Replacing the fuel pump is not a schedule maintenance item. You replace the fuel pump when it fails. However, you do need to replace the fuel filter at a regular interval. I recommend you replace the fuel filter every 50,000 miles if it is replaceable. A partially clogged fuel filter will cause the fuel pump to work very hard to pump fuel to the engine. This will cause the fuel pump to fail prematurely. So replace your fuel filter every 50,000 miles and you may never have to replace the fuel pump.

After how many miles should you change a fuel filter on a 99 durango?

I'm not sure if there's a recommendation on them or not, but they usually don't need changed often unless you've gotten fuel with a lot of sediment in it. I generally change it after 30,000 miles. The fuel filter on the '99 durango is part of the fuel pump assembly, located in the gas tank, and cannot be changed independently. I wouldn't recommend changing the $250 fuel pump every 30k miles. Since the fuel pump will probably die at about 100k miles, that's when you'll change the fuel filter. Search this Wiki for easy instructions on how to change the fuel pump.

Should a fuel pump pack up at 62000 miles on a ford focus?

If you neglected to replace the fuel filter every 36,000 miles and it became clogged this will burn the fuel pump out. Even if the filter was not clogged, it can happen. It is an electric pump, and pumps fail. It should last 100,000 miles but there is no guarantee.

You change a fuel pump when it fails. When that will happen is anyones guess. To prevent premature failure of the fuel pump, replace the fuel filter every 36,000 miles. A partially clogged fuel filter will overwork the fuel pump and shorten it's life.

How often do you replace your fuel filter?

A partially clogged fuel filter can cause the fuel pump to work harder and in the end cause premature fuel pump failure. Due to how expensive it is to replace a fuel pump, I recommend you replace the fuel filter every 50,000 miles. Cheap insurance against pump failure.
