Q: 2C2H6 plus and ?O2 yields 4CO2 plus 6H2O

First balnce this equation for oxygen (?) (Carbon and Hydrogen are already correctly balanced): right sided O counting 4x2 + 6x1 = 14, so left sided there should be also 14 atoms O or 14/2 = 7 moleecules O2

2C2H6 + 7O2 --> 4CO2 + 6H2O

Then divide both sides by 7 and multiply by 5 (7*5/7 O2 and 4*5/7 CO2) to find -->

A: 5 mole O2 will yield (20/7=) 2.86 mole CO2

I assume you mean this reaction.

2H2 + O2 -> 2H2O

2.0 moles H2 (1 mole O2/2 mole H2)

= 1.0 moles O2 needed

Write and balance the equation:

C2H6O + 3 O2 --> 2 CO2 + 3 H2O

(3moles O2 / 1 mole C2H6O) x 4 mol C2H6O = 12 moles O2

0.8 moles Explanation: from the equation we can see, 2 mole A l is needed to react completely with 3 mole F e O so, 3 moles of F e O needs 2 moles A l so, 1 mole F e O needs 2 3 moles A l so, 1.2 mol F e O needs 2 × 1.2 3 moles A l = 0.8 moles A l
