There are 14 mountain *ranges* in Alaska. Alaska has so many individual mountains we gave up trying to give them all names--many are just numbered. I don't really know though because I'm not that really smart!

California has many mountains. In fact, the state has enough mountains to stack higher than Mt. Olympus Mons, the largest mountain in the Solar System. It is located on Mars, and is a shield volcano. A Shield Volcano is a large Volcano that is built almost entirely out of fluid lava flows. Mt. Olympus Mons is so high, it is taller than three Mt. Everest's, the largest Mountain on Earth, located in Nepal, Mid Asia. Mt. Olympus Mons is over 70,000 feet tall, Mt. Everest is 29,000, and the highest in California, Mt. Whitney, located in the Sierra Nevadas, is 15,000.

It depends on what you would count as a mountain, something as big as the Rockies, or as small as the Santa Monica Mountains.
