Take a rocket and put a nuclear warhead/bomb in its payload, instead of a satellite or humans. This produces a nuclear ICBM.Shorter range rockets or unmanned jets aircraft called cruise missiles can also be used.

How do get rid of missiles?

Missiles are disassembled by special experts who know how to handle the nuclear devices and to properly dispose of them. It costs about a million dollars to take them apart and they can take as long as two weeks. There is a show on Discovery com that shows these experts taking them apart. The US government has had well over a thousand taken apart. It is classified where the nuclear materials are stored.

Which would be the decision about which the actions you would take regarding the missiles in Cuba?

The cuban missile crisis was a very dangerous threat to the USA. Soviet nuclear weapons was moved to cuba to enable a range to attack on the west. The president had to seal off the coast so that the nuclear weapons wont get there. If I was the president I would have seized controll over cuba.

Does the President of the United States have a 'red button' to launch Nuclear Missiles?

No, the President of the United States does not have a "red button" of any sort, in the Oval Office or elsewhere. Nuclear Missiles cannot be deployed from a direct command from the President; his command must be confirmed by the Secretary of Defence before the military take action. Note that the Secretary of Defence cannot authorize the launch of Nuclear Missiles without the President first doing so. Nicknamed the "Football", a black briefcase is carried with the President at all times. The briefcase is believed to contain nuclear codes and various pieces of equipment that authorize the deployment of Nuclear Missiles wherever the President is in the world; it functions as a mobile hub in the strategic defense system of the United States.

Why were missiles sent to Cuba?

To avoid war between the Soviet Union & the United States. The Soviet Union also realized the mistake of putting its nuclear weapons in Cuba where Castro could gain control of them. Castro's communist Cuba would have had the potential to start a world-wide nuclear war, even if the Soviet Union didn't want it. Also the Soviet Union was building submarines that could launch nuclear weapons against the United States, so the weapons in Cuba would not be as important as before.
