A complete IP address has 4 octets.

We are talking IPv4 because IPv6 uses quintets.
There are 4 octets in an IPv4 address. Each octet is separated by a dot (.)
Each place has a binary value assigned to it as follows.
128s, 64s, 32s, 16s, 8s, 4, 2s, and 1s place
The place values repeat in each octet
The place values are read from right to left in binary numbers
Within each octet there are 2^8 or 2 to the 8thpower possible addresses. So the math answer is 256.
However if you write it out you will see that 128+64+32+16+8+4+2+1 = 255 and 256 is actually carried to the next octet.
So there are 255 possible addresses in each octet
For example a class C address would look like this 192.168.1.2 or binary 11000000.10101000.00000001.00000010
A IPv4 is group of four (4) octets.
IPv4 addresses are 4 bytes. IPv6 IP addresses are 16 bytes.
IP is the internet protocol that uniquely identifies a system on a network and there are 2^128 addresses in IPv6 (IP version 6).
There are 4094 usable IP addresses in a 20-bit subnet.
the IP address is assigned to your computer by your DHCP server you can only have 1 true ip address, although you can have ghost ip address and private ip addresses Private Addresses are not routable through the internet Ghosts IP addresses are normally used to cover something up, usually something illegal ;)

The problem with your IP address lies in the first octet. 127.0.0.1 addresses are reserved for loopback addresses.
IPv4 addresses have 4 octets, each octet separated by a period. For example, at this time, one of Yahoo's servers has an ip address of 67.195.160.76.
What is one purpose of using logical addresses in an IP network?
The First Octet is used to derive the Class of an IP address...... Eg: 192.168.1.1------ The IP class for this IP add is CLASS "C" as the first Octet is 192.

There are many survival games IP addresses, you can easily search one on a forum.
A big company like Yahoo! probably has many, many IP addresses. You can find out one of them with the ping command:ping www.yahoo.comThe computer will do the DNS resolution, and it will contact the IP address of Yahoo!. It will show you this IP address on the screen.A big company like Yahoo! probably has many, many IP addresses. 4.3 billion with ip version 4 with ip version 6 ( which is not out yet) their will be enough ip addresses so everyone in the world will be able to have 16,000 address
