The Freon capacity for a 1997 Pontiac Trans Sport with dual AC is 46 ounces of R134a refrigerant. The capacity for the same vehicle with single AC is 32 ounces.
The 2006 Ford Focus will hold 26 ounces of R134a refrigerant. All engine models from 2000 to 2007 require the same amount.
A tag under the hood should tell what type of refrigerant and how many ounces it uses.
24.0 Ounces of R134A Refrigerant
The 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme holds 32 ounces of refrigerant. These models require R-134a Freon. This was used for all Cutlasses from 1994 to 1996.
Amount of compressor replacement oilFrom what I've read in other AC Manuals and what I've practiced, with regards to the amount of refrigerant oil to add, is to add the same amount that you drain from the old compressor unit that you removed from your system. This amount, from my experience is about 5 oz, however, it varies from compressor to compressor. The most accurate way to asses this, short of contacting the compressor mfg, is to apply what I said in the first sentence. add 6 ounces for a single ac system and 10 to 12 ounces for a vehicle w/rear air.(like surburbans, vans etc.)
When A compressor locks up on a car 99% of the time it is due to the compressor becoming worn out. When a compressor starts to wear small fragments of metal and rubber are pumped through the system. These fragments eventually make their way back into the compressor and jam it up destroying the compressor. This contaminates the entire system usually and will require a qualified, licensed technician to repair correctly. The system will have to be evacuated and all refrigerant recovered. The compressor, accumulator, and orifice will all have to be replaced in order to have a warranty. The entire system will have to be flushed. Next reassemble the system. Then a vacuum must be applied to remove any and all moisture in the system any moisture in the system will freeze and cause poor performance. Then finally the system must be recharged with the correct refrigerant and the exact capacity in weight, too much or too little will again cause poor performance even if its only one or two ounces with some systems.
7 ounces
30 ounces
The refrigerant type that goes into a 2003 Toyota Tacoma is R134a. Its capacity is 16 ounces. The oil capacity, on the other hand, is 7 ounces of PAG 46.
6 ounces for the compressor and 2 ounces for each component that ia replaced such as the evaporator, condenser and receiver drier.
The 1990 Chevrolet S 10 pickup truck 4.3 liter air-conditioner compressor can hold five pounds of Freon. Most Freon recharge kits will tell you when the Freon is full. If the system was void of any oil it would probably take 8 to 10 ounces of oil for proper lubrication. If you are only replacing the compressor, add three ounces to the suction port and be sure to turn the compressor by hand several turns clockwise after installation to disperse the oil through the pump. The refrigerant it takes to fill that system is more like 30 to 36 ounces not 5 pounds.
