As far as the fuel filter goes, they're pretty easy to replace. There's a plastic clip that can be removed with a small, flat-head screwdriver, and a bolt that loosens the clamp that holds the filter in place. Don't worry about gas leaking from the tank, as long as the car isn't running, the fuel pump won't pull the gas if there's no power. There might be a little in the filter, but not much.
You will want to disconnect the battery cables before doing these repairs.
