Well, try giving it one pellet to see if its hungry and then put in 3-4 pellets for it to eat. Some good treats for your fish are live blood worms, live brine shrimp, freeze dried blood worms and freeze dried shrimp. These can substitute for the normal food you give your fish but DO NOT EXEED THE AMOUNT THAT YOUR FISH CAN EAT IN FIVE MINUTES.

∙ 12y agoIf you allow yourself and the fish 15 minutes morning and evening during which time you add a couple of pellets at a time and keep adding more as the fish eats them. Once the fish stops eating add no more and remove the one or two pellets the fish did not eat. These can sometimes be saved until the next feeding time if they have not been softened too much.

For 1mm pellets, 2~3 a day is enough.
For 0.5mm pellets, 5~8 a day is enough.
Betta fish has the stomach size of their own eye.
