High! It's a great thing to be conscious of what you eat and keep a good weight on oneself, but another when fad diets are killing our population off. Kids are becoming Anorexic and Bulimic thinking this is the way to go, and diet pill companies are raking in the big bucks with "quick fix" diet pills. There is only one healthy way to maintain a good weight and that's to be aware of what you are eating, drink 8 glasses of water a day and exercise! Many people detest exercising and find it time consuming, but if you can go biking with your family (a lot of fun) or with a friend and then stop off at Star Bucks or some place you enjoy being (as a reward) then it's well worth it. There is swimming, jogging, fast walking and exercise equipment. If you know in your heart you aren't going to keep going to the gym at least 3 times a week then don't sign up! Get up, get moving! It's always easier doing your exercises with a friend. In these modern times not only some kids, but some adults are either couch potatoes or sitting behind the computer too much. It's OK to do this to some degree, but make a point of getting up and get going! I walk my dogs 2 miles per day down at the river and love it! I either go with my husband or with a friend and sometimes I just want to be alone with my dogs and enjoy nature. I also work-out at home because my schedule is tight. I watch my diet all week long, but then "pig out" one day on the weekend as reward to myself. That means going out to dinner with friends or going to a pub. I don't worry about those calories and the following week I may go out fast walking to burn off the additional calories. Diet companies make billions off of not only gullible adults, but destroying the lives of many kids out there. There are online clubs that help other teenagers to either become Anorexic or Bulimic or to continue with this method. Anorexic people are on a downward spiral and it can lead to death! The kids that usually feel they look fat are actually seeing themselves this way and it can be genetic or that they don't feel they have control in their lives. It's not uncommon to hear of a young woman becoming Anorexic after her parents divorce or there is some trauma in her life. Bulimic young women are usually a good weight and like to maintain their weight, but they want to "pig out" so they do, then purge (vomit) soon after. They think they have the answer to an otherwise distasteful thought of gaining weight, but what they are doing is teaching their stomach (a muscle of the body) to become accustom to purging and one day it won't know how to stop! Then they are in trouble! On and off dieting is connected to all sorts of diseases and especially Heart disease. The youth of today may not care about all of what I said, but, one day, it will catch up to them and then they wished they had to listen to all the warnings out there. Magazines, TV, push kids to think they should look a certain way and that's just plain stupid. People such as the Britney Spears of this world (who should be good role models) get lypo suction, plastic surgery (on the tummy area) butt lifts, and in some cases actors will get breast implants and certainly face lifts. Who wants to look robotic and the same as everyone else! Humans come in all shapes and sizes. If more people put 1/4 of the effort into who they are inside and made an effort to help those less fortunate then they wouldn't be so fascinated with dieting to the point of ruining their health. We should all practice good health, but it's not a secret ... THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES AND YOU GOT TO DO IT THE GOOD OLD FASHION WAY!

Millions of people go on a diet each year. At any given time, 1 in 3 women and 1 in 5 men are on some sort of diet, guided eating program, or watching what they eat (some are for diet purposes, some are for health purposes such and an allergy or Diabetes, though).
