That is not easily answerable. US constitutional law prohibits the accumulation of this information into a central database. Also a large portion of sales in the US are secondary private sales from one owner to a new owner and not regulated. Dealers are required to log every sale in a register (log book) but are not required to notify the government of a sale, with the exception that they MUST run a background check on each purchaser and maintain that record.
Any number of gun sales in the US can only be estimated. With all available information I could only estimate that in the past 8 months that between 10 and 12 million gun sales have occurred in the US so far in 2012 based on a report in 2011 that 14 million background checks had been made, extrapolating that forward and adding 25% guesstimating that 20% of sales are private sales. The US has more than 90 million legal gun owners.
