Since the technology that we have today did not exist then, the numbers count can only be told the the participants themselves. Here are several versions of the casualty count on January 3, 1777:
-British General Sir William Howe official casualty report for the battle stated 18 killed, 58 wounded and 200 missing.
-A civilian eyewitness wrote that 24 British soldiers were found dead on the field.
-Then there is George Washington. He claimed that the British had more 100 killed and 300 captured and lost 6 or 7 officers , 25-30 enlisted men killed, however never gave a number of wounded.
-The Loyalist newspaper, New York Gazette and Weekly Mercury, reported on January 17, 1777, that the American losses at Princeton had been 400 killed and wounded.
-A number of authors of that battle come up with variations of numbers but the numbers were low.
I came upon a couple of more websites that basically the causalities were low on both ends. It apparently seems that the casualties for the British ranged from 25-40 with the same number of Americans. The Americans, however, did lose General Mercer, Colonel Haslett, and a few more high ranking officers.
