I don't have the numbers for greater Houston, but here are the 2010 census totals of the state and its #1, #2, #3 and #5 cities:
Subtracting those four city populations from the state pop. leaves 19,779,681. If you also subtract the population of Austin (#4 in TX; #14 in US), that leaves 18,989,291. So only 24.5% of the state population lives within its five most populous cities.
I DO have the census totals by county. If you subtract the 11,008,671 people who live in Texas' five largest counties, Harris, Dallas, Tarrant, Bexar and Travis, which are the counties that hold the five largest cities but not in the same order, from the state population, the difference is 14,136,890.
Most people think Dallas is bigger than San Antonio, but that is a common misconception. San Antonio is the seventh largest city in the US while Dallas ranks 9th. San Antonio has a population of just over 1.3 million while Dallas is just over 1.2 million. San Antonio's land area is approximately 412 square miles while Dallas is around 385 square miles. The metropolitan Dallas-Fort Worth area is larger than San Antonio, but Dallas itself is not.
In order of population: Houston San Antonio Dallas Austin Fort Worth Note: El Paso is the sixth largest and was passed in population by Fort Worth during the mid 90s. Populations as of 2008 1. Houston:2,242,193 2. San Antonio:1,351,305 3. Dallas:1,279,910 4. Austin:757,688 5. Fort Worth:703,073 6. El Paso:613,190
Once, it was, but no longer. According to a 2011 Census estimate, the San Antonio metropolitan area has 2,194,927 people. (2010 Census: 2,142,508.) The Dallas/Fort Worth area has about 6.75 million people according to the 2010 Census.
Texas has 3 cities with more than 1 million people each. These are Houston, San Antonio and Dallas.
Many people cite the following cities in Texas as the most popular ones: Dallas-Fort Worth; Houston; San Antonio; Corpus Christi; and El Paso
Houston, Dallas, and Fort Worth >> >> Actually, San Antonio is now 2nd and Fort Worth is 5th. >> >> 1. Houston (4th in U.S.) >> 2. San Antonio (7th in U.S.) >> 3. Dallas (9th in U.S.) >> 4. Austin (15th in U.S.) >> 5. Fort Worth (17th in U.S.)
The major metropolitan area of Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio, and Austin. Each of those cities have 3 million to 10 million people. There are about 25,000,000 in Texas and it is the most populous state
Dallas, according to the correct population report. Houston doesn't count all of the Mexicans in the city. It looks like Mexico at the Oil refinery's and Ship Channel.
Houston, 2. Dallas, 3. Arlington
There are 254 counties in Texas. Harris County has the highest population in the state with over 4 million citizens and growing. Dallas, Tarrant, and Bexar have the next highest populations, each with around 2 million residents. Loving County comes in last place with less than 100 people.
No. The Los Angeles area has 6 million Mexicans out of its 18 million people. Other places with many Mexicans include San Francisco, New York City, Miami, Houston, Chicago, and the Dallas/Fort Worth area. However, with factors such as half of its 2 million people being Mexican, the San Antonio area has retained its Mexican influence.
As of 2021, there are 10 U.S. cities with populations over 5 million people. These cities include New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Phoenix, Philadelphia, San Antonio, San Diego, Dallas, and San Jose.
