142 people were legally accused of witchcraft during the Salem Hysteria.
This count does not include people who were rumored by neighbors or relatives of being involved with witchcraft. Hundreds were accused, 19 were hanging, 1 was pressed to death under stones and between 4 and 13 died while imprisoned.

They really aren't. The Salem Witch Trials tried regular people accused of witchcraft and convicted in Puritan society. The Rosenburg Trials tried two people who were trying to spy on the US during a time of diplomatic hostilities.
