According to "The Times" (see related link ) almost no animals are killed by plastic bags, and most plastic related deaths in marine birds and animals are more closely linked with other plastics which are dumped into the water system by industry.

∙ 14y agoThis is a question that is going to be impossible to answer. To get that percentage, the death of every creature on earth would have to be documented. Then each death would have to ruled as being caused by a bag or not.

∙ 13y agoThere are thousands of plastic bags thrown away on a daily basis, the supermarkets are now attempting to reduce the amount of free plastic bags given out to customers offering one large free bag that they will replace free of charge for another one when it gets worn out.

You can actually drive about 460 meters with the oil which is used for only one plastic bag. Plastic bags even kill a lot of marine animals. Plastic bags gets blown into the ocean and floats around like a jelly-fish. A lot of sea-creatures choke and die for mistaking them as their food. Each year, thousands of sea turtles choke on plastic bags after mistaking them for jellyfish, their favourite food. Even other sea critters like sea lions and dolphins have also been found with their stomachs filled with plastic bags!
