According to "The Times" (see related link ) almost no animals are killed by plastic bags, and most plastic related deaths in marine birds and animals are more closely linked with other plastics which are dumped into the water system by industry.
This is a question that is going to be impossible to answer. To get that percentage, the death of every creature on earth would have to be documented. Then each death would have to ruled as being caused by a bag or not.
There are thousands of plastic bags thrown away on a daily basis, the supermarkets are now attempting to reduce the amount of free plastic bags given out to customers offering one large free bag that they will replace free of charge for another one when it gets worn out.
They typically cause 156,000 deaths a year divided by 356 =? do the math
never ending because the world will not be destroyed
About 100,00
at least 4 million a day
Plastic bags are made out of non-biodegradable substance.(not organic)Because they are durable they do not rot. Scientist believe that it would take up to 1,000 years to break down. In that time plastic bags separate into smaller toxic particles that contaminates the soil and even waterways. Even if we try to burn them, it pollutes the atmosphere Each year, an estimated 500 billion to 1 trillion plastic bags are made worldwide. That means that 1 million plastic bags are made each minute, but then billions end up as litter each year. Making plastic bags can lead to exhaustion of oil, because to make a lot of plastic bags, we need a lot of oil. If we reduce oil we could save much more oil. You can actually drive about 460 meters with the oil which is used for only one plastic bag. Plastic bags even kill a lot of marine animals. Plastic bags gets blown into the ocean and floats around like a jelly-fish. A lot of sea-creatures choke and die for mistaking them as their food. Each year, thousands of sea turtles choke on plastic bags after mistaking them for jellyfish, their favourite food. Even other sea critters like sea lions and dolphins have also been found with their stomachs filled with plastic bags!

A common estimate is that global consumption of plastic bags is over 500 billion plastic bags annually. Yes that's 500,000,000,000 plastic bags used per year. In other words, that's almost 1 million plastic bags used per minute. As if that's not enough, some environmental groups have estimated that up to 1 trillion plastic bags are used worldwide each year. Now, depending on your definition of the word "trillion", that would be 1,000,000,000,000 plastic bags!
There are at least 50000000 but sometimes if people use reusable carrier bags it will drop
It has been estimated that approximately 1 million bags bags are consumed in the world every minute
lots
69 million per day in the United States and about 22 billion each year
1.5 million*12 months = 18 million bottles thrown away each year.

2500000 Plastic bottles are thrown away each hour.
Each day, more that 3,000 nappies are thrown away.

The manufacture of plastic requires the use of petrochemicals which definitely has an environmental cost. The discarding of plastic however is perhaps a more serious problem. Plastic doesn't break down quickly in landfills and what does leach out of it pollutes ground water sources. Another serious problem is that plastic back get blown or thrown into the seas where animals often try to swallow them. Many thousands of animals die from choking on the bags each year.
As many tires to go around the globe 5 times.
90,000 cans are thrown away every minute by Americans ourselves.Sad, huh?
