It should take approxamatly 5 quarts of oil for a 5.7 litre v8 but always fill it with 4 quarts and then check it before you add the 5th. The dipstick will have a safe operating range on it that will say min and max if you get the oil level somewhere between the two you will be fine. If it is below your engine will not have enough lubricant and too much your engine will overflow and foul out the plugs and ruin your seals.
About five quarts should do it.
