If "Safety Professional" means those who hold the title of "Certified Safey Professional" then there are nearly 11,000 in the US according to the Board of Certified Safety Professionals, which awards that designation..
If your definition of Safety Professional is broader, including all those practicing the occupational safety profession, including safety engineers, industrial hygienists, health physicists, ergonomisists, etc., there may be as many as 30,000 in the US.
However, Police Officers and Fire Fighters often call themselves Safety Professionals. If you use that definition, then there are hundreds of thousands, if not several million Safety Professionals in the US.
