An orchestra has four main sections:

  • strings (violin, viola, cello, double bass)
  • brass (Trumpet, Trombone, tuba)
  • woodwind (oboe, flute, Clarinet, bassoon)
  • percussion (timpani, triangle, cymbal)

Individual instruments may be added to each section according to how the composer wrote the music being performed.
