How many sections was Germany broken into?

After World War II, Germany was divided into four parts, one each under the control of the UK, USA, USSR, and France. There were other parts of Germany that were broken off and included in Poland and the USSR. Some time later, the three parts controlled by the UK, USA, and France became West Germany, and the one controlled by the USSR became East Germany, different countries that later yet became united.

German has been divided and reunited many times. The numbers of parts varies.
