One of the most important burial grounds is the Machpelah Cave which is in the land of Canaan (which is in Africa). (Genesis 23:7-19). The bodies of Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Rebekah, Leah and Jacob are buried there: "Then Jacob commanded his sons, 'Now that I am going to join my people in death, bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite, at Machpelah, east of Mamre, in the land of Canaan. Abraham bought this cave and field from Ephron for a burial ground. That is where they buried Abraham and his wife Sarah; that is where they buried Isaac and his wife Rebekah; and that is where I buried Leah." (Genesis 49:29-31, Genesis 50:12-13). Another burial ground is where the royal tombs stand in David's City. King David was buried there and so was his son Solomon. Many other kings were buried there: "David died and was buried in David's City." (1 Kings 2:10, 1 Kings 11:41-43, 2 Kings 9:27-28, 2 Kings 14:17-20).
