odysseus had 12 ships when he made it to leastrygonians he came off that island with only one ship left
Odysseus lands on the Island of the Lotus Eaters, where his men encounter the Lotus-eaters who offer them a fruit that makes them forget their longing for home. This delays their journey further as Odysseus has to drag his men back to the ships.
Odysseus' men foolishly and selfishly continued to plunder the lands of the Cicones, refusing to come back to the ships when Odysseus requested. As a result, the Cicones were able to call for backup and trounced the Greek soldiers, killing about 70 of their men.
Odysseus sends some of his men to explore the island and they run into to not-so-humble Laestrygonians who are cannibals and eat his exploring men.Out of the twelve boats with which Odysseus arrives on the island, eleven are destroyed and the Greeks on them either drown or are consumed.Cannibals attack and destroy many of his men and reduce his number of ships to just one
12 Ships
After they leave the cyclopes' island, Odysseus takes his ships back to the neighboring island that they stopped at before (the one with really good land for farming but no seeds have been planted and lots of goats). They sacrifice the goat that Odysseus used to escape- Polyphemus' biggest ram. They sacrifice it to Zeus, but Zeus ignores it.
Odysseus returned home with a single Phaecian ship, as all of ships had been destroyed.
