10 is waaay too many, let's begin by saying. I guess it's reflective of what type of work you are doing and how important the job/relationship with employer is...If you want to stay on their "good side, show good work ethic, but also take advantage of your benefits, then even if you are given 10 sick days a year, you should only use 2 or 3. Especially in terms of playing hooky. In other words, 5 hooky days, used as sick days, is far better than 10 cold/cough/"ahem, I have a headache" days. If you're a hard worker, sometimes you need emotionally sick days too....
