You would need to know how many watts each of your solar panels could provide continuously.

For example, if each panel provided 100 watts, then 9kW divided by 100W=90 panels.

Of course, this would probably prohibit their use in this scenario. Your best bet would be to find the most power output per panel size (likely to be very costly) and focus on cutting down the power requirements of the existing motorcycle by removing excess weight, etc.

There is a chance you could make it work, but it's possible that the total panel output you could actually mount to such a motorcycle would be much lower. In that case, be prepared for a reduction in the speed that bike can travel compared to normal.

If you plan to run from batteries and recharge them with solar power, the question would be how fast you want to be running again after a full battery discharge. More panel power would charge the battery faster, but the battery also has a limit to the speed at which it can charge.

How much do solar car batteries cost?

There are no solar car batteries you can buy. You can purchase a solar battery charger and solar panels but not a solar battery that you install in a vehicle.

Does a solar battery charger still charge in a dark room?

Solar-powered batteries have solar panels that allow the battery to charge itself. It charges when exposed to the sun or any other type of lighting source, including a lamp in your living room to a lighting source in your office at work. So if you are in a dark room it will be charged when you expose it to a lighting source.

What is this solar panel for in your 1999 vw beetle?

The solar panels were shipped with the cars to maintain a full battery charge while the cars were in transit. Some dealerships passed these on to the purchaser, others retained them. The panels provide a "trickle-charge" of approximately 3watts.

Can an automatic gate opener battery be charged by a car battery charger if there is not enough sunlight for the solar panels?

Absolutely. This is acceptable as long as your charger is built for the type of battery used, and the voltage is right. AGM, flooded, GEL, Ni-Cad, and Lead Calcium are typical solar batteries. This battery charger can determine which is which.http://www.bdbatteries.com/chargers.php?id=7Basics:Think of a battery as an electricity tank.Just like your hot water heater (a water tank) it cares not where the power comes from. The hot water heater only requires water at the right pressure (voltage) to fill the tank, and not burst it. The rate at which the tank is filled (aka size of the hose) is irrelevant to ability to fill it up. However, the size of the incoming hose has everything to do with how long it takes to charge or discharge the tank. How To:Now back to your problem. Assuming your system is 12 volts. Your solar panels are one hose into your power tank at roughly 13.1 volts. The max charging rate for that system if 14.4 volts. The hose isn't as big as possible coming from the solar panels, and when there is no amps (water) coming down the wire (pipe), the battery (tank) is left under charged. To augment the power production, simply hook up any battery charger, the higher the amp rating on the charger, the faster it charges the battery.Neat trick:Jump start it with your automobile for 30 minutes. Drive to the gate, without shutting off the vehicle, attach the jumper cables to the battery Positive and the frame. The alternator has a rating of between 80 and 150 amps :) it can charge an 80ah battery in under an hour.Source: http://www.bdbatteries.com

Solar Battery Chargers Increase Cellphone Talk Time?

Boost your talk time with a portable solar battery charger for your cellphone. Small panels are affordable and make it easy to top off your battery when you're outdoors. On sunny days, do your part to conserve electricity by propping the panel in a window. When you're shopping for a cellphone charger, look for one intended for USB devices. Some models even include a case to hold your phone while the battery charges.

Can you wire solar lights in series to charge a car battery?

Sure, if you have enough. How fast the battery will charge depends on how many you put in the circuit (the more panels, the more charging power will be available). It isn't as simple as wiring them directly to your battery though, you should use anti-overcharging circuitry and a circuit that will prevent polarity reversal. Ideally, you would want to wire enough panels in series to produce about 14 Volts DC and then wire this series in parallel with at least one other identical 14 Volt DC series.
