As there is no specific place (the poem refers to the whole area of Flanders, which is about the northern half of Belgium), there can't be a specific number. At the time of its composition in 1915, the heavy fighting in the area left possibly as many as a half-million casualties. The fighting in Flanders concentrated around Ypres, one of perhaps 3 major battlefields where heavy fighting continued all throughout WW1. Total casualty estimates of the various battles of Ypes number in around a million in dead and wounded.
