There has been atleast 200 deaths from friedly fire.

unfortunately they could not always tell so friendly fire killed many soldiers

In the 38-year Operation Banner, which ended in 2007, 763 servicemen and women were killed as a direct result of terrorism. It is estimated that the true total, including car crashes, suicides and friendly fire, stands at more than 1,300. More than 6,000 were wounded, some of them permanently disabled. Contact the UK veterans groups they may have the names; 47 UK personnel were killed in the campaign...38 by friendly fire, and 9 by enemy action.

If you mean friendly fire there is an investigation and it depends on the circumstances.
