Chocolate 'squares ' are not a uniform size.

6 ounces of chocolate chips = 1/3 cup = 1 baking chocolate square
If you mean 1 oz squares (ie Baker's), 12 ounces would equal one 12-ounce bag of chips, or about two cups. Nestle's is making baking squares that are only half an ounce, so 12 of those would be 6 ounces of chips, or about one cup.
Baking chocolate squares are about 1 ounce of chocolate (although some may be smaller 1/2 ounce squares). You can use a food scale to measure out the corresponding amount of chocolate chips - ie 4 ounces of chips for 4 squares. If you don't have a scale I've found that this usually works out to about 3/4 cup of chocolate chips.
You must first assess what kind of chocolate. Dark, milk or white. Dark has the least amount of calories and some studies have proven that it is actually rather good for you in SMALLquantities. One-two squares of chocolate would be.Next the size. Are they gigantic, huge things of chocolate? Or little nibbles (like a Hershey's Deluxe)Ultimately however, you can look on the nutrition facts of the chocolate and find out how much is in each square.
86 semi-sweet chocolate chips equals 3 squares of semi-sweet baking chocolate.
24 is not Correct. Who ever that is just being Silly. Baker Squares are 1 oz each. and there is 16 oz in a pound(lb) So you would need 16 Squares of Bakers baking Chocolate to get a pound.\ And there is 32 in 2 pounds
