Considering the size of a Chipmunk and the size of a sunflower seed it would depend on whether the seed was shelled or not. If not shelled, from my own recollection in looking at the mouth of a chipmunk I'd say not over two at the most. Now shelled that is a different story all together.
Only One.
They dont spit out seeds when I hold them but it's probably just ate seeds or didn't eat all the food and put seeds in their mouth.
Sunflowers have deep roots to hold themselves steady. They are tall to make it more difficult for animals to get their seeds.
Seeds are the "containers" that hold the potential of a new plant. Some common examples are peas, beans and sunflower seeds. A fruit is the "container" that holds may seeds and is actually the ripened ovary of the flower. Some common examples of fruit (with noticeable seeds) are tomato's peppers, oranges and melons.
I just did this today, get some sunflower seeds, peanuts, cashews, etc any nut and some smaller berries work. Then you go near the chipmunks feeding areas and hold still where he can see the treat you have for him. If you dont know where they are feeding you can put some nuts around or a birdfeeder up. Sunflower seeds that fall out from birds dropping them will become a valuable asset for the chipmunk population so they will come around often. It only takes a half hour or less to get a chipmunk to be comfortable in close proximity to you as long as you don't move much. He will eventually take the treat from you, the more you do this the more tame they become. They are friendly, I've never been bit by one that hurt although occasionally they test your finger to see if it's food. You can even tame them to jump to your hand from other objects for treats or to climb you or get them out of your pockets. You can pet them while they eat your treats but they need to warm up to you doing that. Hope it works out for you!
The human mouth has the capability to hold food within the cheeks, like a chipmunk, while the cheek and tounue muscles hold it in place. During this time, drinks can be swallowed seperately. One difficulty is whether he or she is able to breathe between sips with their food still in their cheeks.
We feed birds sunflower seeds and peanuts. Every 5-8 years, when the snow gets to deep, the moose tip the bird feeders on top of themselves and eat as much as they can. So, yes they eat peanuts (and sunflower seeds), if they get a hold of food they can't eat, (one tried to eat suit), they lie down with a tummy ache for a while but move on and survive.
