How does repetition affect memorization skills?

Repetition is the foundation of memorization! The average person needs to hear something twenty times before they truly learn it. Repeating something over and over helps you to remember it. It also helps to visualize - picture the thing you are trying to learn about, and picture the words in your mind.

When you say something to a woman several times about worthless adult children and you go unheard is there any point in pursuing the relationship?

If a woman is acting like she is not hearing something you have told her over and over again, this may be because it is something she does not want to hear. This could also mean she is thinking about it. Usually if it is about her children she will not want to hear it. No mother wants to hear bad things about their children.
