The amount of water that a sunflower requires is dependent upon many different factors. The size of the sunflower and the type of soil will make the amount of water needed to vary greatly. Most sunflowers can survive quite well on a couple of inches of natural rainwater for month.

There is no specific requirement as to the number of times you must water a sunflower. Depending on the humidity and heat level, you may be able to skip watering altogether for weeks at a time. Generally, you want to keep the soil damp but not flooded.
You should feel if the soil is moist or not if the soil is dry then you should feed it the amount you feel comfortable with (becareful not to feed it to much water) if it is nice and moist then leave it until the soil starts getting dry!
