I don't suppose no one knows the exact figure of dead trees, but I would say many, a lot of them pushed down by the waves, but many that did survive the waves, died by salt in the soil left behind from the salty water. Many garden and street trees died, you can see in different photos. That 10 m pine tree that was the sole Survivor of the are it was, finally died. But many other trees seem to have survived. I think deciduous trees were able to survive more than evergreen trees, maybe because they were inacctive, hibernating in a way. And evergreen trees probably suck up salty water for their leaves and that was fatal, as they can´t stand salt.

There are many airports in Japan. The small airport at Sendai was destroyed but all others are still operating.
Not only one many houses were destroyed. Many people were rendered homeless.
Many towns were destroyed. Many people have died and are unaccounted for.
The tsunami wiped out almost all of Japan knocking down many buildings such as skyscrapers and nuclear power plants that were operating in Japan. The tsunami destroyed the nuclear power plants and radiation leaked out which caused a raging panic among the people of Japan.
