Latest data may have been under 2,000 fatalities for US Military personnel in Operation Enduring Freedom. Its important to note that the primary objective of Enduring Freedom (getting their leader) was accomplished in May 2011. With that mission accomplished its time to move on.
Note: Using the term US Soldiers (US Army) is leaving out US Sailors (US Navy), US Marines, US Airmen (US Air Force) and the United States Coast Guard.
If you fear a political back-lash from using the term "servicemen" then use the term "personnel" at least that way you will include all US military women and men. Servicemen would be correct for WWI, WWII, Korea & Vietnam wars as women were only auxiliaries (WACs and WAVEs) during those wars. The WACs & WAVEs were disbanded after Vietnam (1975) which was obviously before Operation Desert Storm (1991) consequently from Desert Storm to today "personnel" would be more acceptable.
