Veterans have fought in wars to preserve the freedom of the country and to accomplish goals important to the country. They have risked their lives, lost limbs, an many have died.
Be more specific: "...lives have been lost in American wars..." does this mean counting the enemy too? Or just the US forces? For example: Approximately 264 US Cavalrymen were killed at the "Battle of the Little Big Horn" in 1876. But this figure does NOT count the Indian casualties.

There are several major Middle East Conflicts. You may have to be more specific in your question to get answer better than, some have ended and others have not. (It would be like asking "Did the US win the war?". The US fought in many distinct wars, so the question is only answer that US won some wars - American Revolution and lost some wars - Vietnam.)
