It depends which voice recognition software you have, there are many brands. I am using voice recognition software right now :) The primary function of voice recognition software is to be able to speak to it, and have it accurately and quickly write down your words. I use Dragon naturally speaking version 10 preferred, and I can (although I don't) navigate my whole computer, including opening and closing windows, clicking on links, and scrolling up and down, without ever once touching my computer. A good voice recognition software will come equipped with a wide vocabulary, but it will also pick up on your vocabulary and speech patterns quickly.
How long does it take to train a voice recognition software?
It depends on your voice and its recognition capabilities. Many voice recognition devices that come with the software are of lower quality than the software that the computer normally comes with. The windows 7 recognition software in my opinion is better than Dragon speech.

Sometimes when you type, you find that your mind is wandering, and you lose your train of thought, of course, you lose your train of thought when you're speaking sometimes, but it happens a lot less often. Also, voice-recognition software does not make any typos, and knows every word you will ever want to use in casual conversation, although I have had to teach mine some words like prestidigitation, but it learns very easily. I am using my voice recognition software right now, and highly recommend Dragon NaturallySpeaking version 10 preferred.

No, it is not possible. Modern voice recognition will work one phrase to one sentence behind, as it is necessary to recognize the context of the words to determine their spelling. If you want to no what wood happen if all words whir spelt by computer as they whir spoken, just reed this sentence.

I have worked with many different voice recognition software programs, but by far the most accurate and fast voice recognition software I have been able to find, is Dragon NaturallySpeaking version 10 preferred. it is fairly expensive, but if you tell them you have a learning disability (I don't know if you do) when you call the company, they will probably give you a discount. My voice recognition software is insanely accurate, came equipped with a really wide vocabulary, learns words quickly, allows me to talk to it very quietly, and still understands what I am saying, is a very small bar on the screen, has very few bugs and hangups, and overall I really can't give it a better review!!
