Women have always been able to work, yet in some cultures it is frowned upon, many cultures today are against women working, but this is not to say they can not do so if they so wished.
It also depends on your specification of work, in the sense of women having a job with a regular pay check or women whom stay at home and look after the house.
So in answer to your question: There was never a time when they could not work.

yesss so many people at my school do that itll work out good cause then u could have a threesum with another girl ;D
It varied, but could be as long as seven years.
A woman could conceivably have a child every 10 months or so. If we say that she has a child once a year during her child-bearing years, she might be able to give birth to as many 40 children. And that's if she doesn't have twins or triplets.Women, however, even those who have many children, don't have that many children.I've done a lot of work in the genealogy field for years and at one point, came across a woman who gave birth to 23 children. They were all individual births and they all survived. That's simply amazing.
