How could cloning help infertile couples have children?

Cloning can help infertile couples to have 'children' but as kid-twin of the mother or the father. Children would be genetically brother or sister of the either parents. P.S. - Cloning needs somatic (body) cell chromosome unlike in natural births (requiring gametes - reproductive cells).

What ethical theory might apply to human cloning?

Natural Law Theory

Should cloning be used to create the perfect human?

Hi! Human cloning can probably be perfected but scientists are not that advanced yet. I'm working on an essay for human and animal cloning. Animal cloning has been successful with Dolly the Sheep and others but most of them have died young. Others also say that cloning has hidden DNA damage. So animal cloning is close to perfection-really close they have been successful but humans don't want to risk being tested unless scientists are absolutely sure. We have a while to wait!

What is applied genetics?

Applied genetics is the process of using gene theories to attempt to actually produce a genetic product. An example of this would be genetically engineered seeds.

Is it acceptable to clone genes?

As with any ethical issue there are (at least) two sides to every debate, but in this case the terminology might confound the issue. Cloning a gene simply means to make a copy of it and put it somewhere else. It could end up in the same organism (to over-express), or a different one (to heterologously express). So far cloning genes into human embryos is universally unacceptable, but cloning genes into plants and microbes is common in research settings. There are also some animals that are genetically modified, which is wrong for some people, who object to experimenting on animals to begin with.

Why are people against genetically modified plants?

When a plant is mutated it's genetic make up is modified. It might able to fight off plant disease like rust, but it might produce harmful chemical toxins or might have a high concentration of a harmful chemicals. Thus people are hesitant to try the new genetically modified plants and crops. Ultimately they might also cause ecological imbalance.
