There is twice as much DNA in a chromosome that has replicated than there was before replication.

The amount will be halved again at anaphase of the subsequent mitosis (or meiosis II), when the two halves (chromatids) of the chromosome separate, and each half is from then on referred to as a daughter chromosome.

A chromosome contains one molecule of DNA and histone proteins.

The DNA molecule is highly folded around special proteins called histones.

For a diagram see http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/4b/Chromatin_Structures.png

Actually, each chromosome contains one DNA molecule. The DNA molecule is made of two chains of nucleotides linked by hydrogen bonds and twisted around each other to form the famous 'double helix' structure.

This is clearly stated in textbooks of genetics eg Hartl, Essential Genetics: "Each eukaryotic chromosome contains a single DNA molecule of enormous length".

It depends on the cell. A stem cell's DNA will be replicated many times in order to divide but parenchemal cells do not divide so replication is not necessary.
