It depends on where you are located and were you work. I have been doing this for 8 years. One job was 40%. I also got paid $13.00 hr which sucked because if you work hourly the company tries to get in as many dog in as little time as possible. One other job was 50% with benefits. Now I have my own business and I make 100% and I still get tips. Do your time get all kinds of help on different ways and styles find your own style. And in the future open your own shop. Life is so much much better. Good luck
That is a bigger question than you might think. I have been grooming for 20 years and i have earned 200.00 to 2000.00. Groomers usually work on commission when you are employed by someone. 50% is customary. So it depends on how many dogs you can do, how many days you work and how busy the shop is. Make sure you find out before you take a grooming position. A good way to judge how busy the shop is, is by asking how many days ahead they are booked and summertime does not count. Everyone is busy in the summer.
If you work for yourself, you can make more. Unless you are spending it all on renting a store front and paying for equipment and supplies. Mobile grooming is a pretty good option for making the most. You could get a van and the starting price would be 100.00 for a bath, or you could just pick up your toolbox, table and dryer and go from house to house.

I work in a grooming salon, and the shampoos we use are pretty much fragrance free by the time the dog is dry. We spray all our dogs with dog cologne unless the owner specifies otherwise. We have tons of different fragrances though. If you like what your dog smells like when it comes home, ask your groomer what they use so you can purchase it to use at home.
