This will vary depending on the sides you have as well. But, you should be able to figure this out with a little help.

Most people, especially at a barbeque, can put away anywhere from a half to a full pound of food. Some can even eat more. The average roasting chicken will run 2-4 pounds. Typical sides for such a barbeque are potatoes of some sort (potato salad is probably most common) corn on the cob, perhaps some sort of green salad.

Figure it this way: split fifty chickens in half and roast them. This way you can serve each person a half chicken and a half ear of corn (buy approximately 125 ears of corn, pre-shuck them, cut the ear in half, and spit each with a wooden scewer--soak them in water until ready to grill them, brush them with butter as they grill, and toss with seasoning salt).

So, you are into this barbeque for fifty roasting chickens, 125 ears of corn, and have others bring a dish to pass. Have a good pair of poultry sheers to split the chickens and you are well on your way.
