look in the booklet your dealership gave you.. every car varies
Actually that particular specification isn't given anywhere because it is not a significant number. The heater core is actually part of the entire cooling system, But for arguments sake , probably about 1 or 2 quarts of coolant. Depends on the vehicle and heater.
Although it may look like the heater core holds quite a bit of fluid, it only actually holds about a pint to a quart of coolant.
Keep the car's owner's manual handy. Remove the screws or bolts that hold the heater core in place. It may be that you need to remove more parts of the car in order to get to the heater core. Disconnect the intake and outtake hoses from the heater core. Remove the heater core from the car, taking special care to keep the core upright so no coolant spills out. Place the new heater core into the car, and reconnect the hoses as they were connected to the old heater core. Screw or bolt the new heater core into the car, and replace all the other removed car parts.
Remove the center console remove the floor vent remove the heater core cover the heater core is right under the climate control unit remove the two screws that hold the heater core in place, open the hood and remove the heater hose from the heater core lines, now go inside and pull out the old heater core you don't have to remove the whole dash just the front of it
You can replace the sheer core, on your 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix, by removing the water lines. Remove the four bolts that hold the heater core in place. Reverse the process to install the new heater core.
do the heater hoses get warm? please advise. Justin25taylor@yahoo.cm
This procedure is much the same on all years of Celebrities.First drain the coolant into a suitable containerOn the firewall locate the two hoses that go into and out of the hearer core and remove them. There should also be rubber insulators on the inlet and outlet of the heater core, save them for the new heater core.Inside the vehicle remove the under dash cover. Locate the heater duct. It has a number of small screws plus clips that hold it in place, remove them. The duct should then be removed. There is also a small cover over the heater core inlet/outlet tubes. It is held on with three screws, one of which is a little hard to see, remove them and take off the small cover. It may be "glued" in place by a tar like insulating material. The heater core is held in place by two strap clamps over it which are held on with two screws in each. Remove the screws and clamps. The heater core will now come outReverse the procedure to install the new heater core. Refill the coolant and check for leaks.

Disconnect the hoses to the heater core. Remove the lower instrument panel sound insulator, it is just below the glove box and remove the clips. Remove the heater duct, clips and screws hold it in place, then remove the heater core cover clips. Take off the heater core mounting bolts.
If the whole system was empty, the radiator, the engine block, the heater core, all the hoses, it would take aprox 11 to 12 qts of coolant to fill the system.
According to the service manual... you remove the instrument panel (gauges/speedometer/tachometer) and separate the ventilation duct (not completely) and remove the the heater core (making sure of course that the coolant hoses have been removed first). There should be 2 tabs that hold it into place. Installation is reverse of removal.
