From an original estimate of about $400 million, by the time of launch it had cost $2.2 billion and by today has probably cost twice that amount.
The Hubble telescope was placed in orbit with a mirror that had been ground to the wrong dimensions. A fleck of paint was stuck to the end of an optical interferometer and used as a reference datum.
ESA is European Space Agency, it's headquarters are in Paris, France. It is a combined effort of countries of Europe for space exploration This way the different countries can help each other in exploring space and can also be cost saving.
160 million per year just for the personnel. add aircraft fuel and maintenance parts, and you're looking at closer to $400 million per year. add the cost of the carrier ($4.5 billion) and divide it over its lifetime (about 40 years) and you're looking at about $530,000,000 per year which is close to $1,450,000 per day. Carriers launch on average 18 times (with 18 recoveries) per day including time in port and time in shipyads. That means each carrier launch costs $80,600.
If you are thinkin of GOTJ (Gathering Of The Juggalos) it's normally in Il. A normal ticket will only cost you $150.00 each year. This includes a camping space, running water, ect.. PLUS all the insane wicked juggalo ninja fun you can handle and then some. They have over 100 bands, a swimming area, stores for face paint, batteries, flashlights, cameras, and FAYGO, rides, med centers just in case, and of course, all the flying Faygo you ask for to be baptized in. Nothing is better then when J or Shaggy soak you in a great soda then launch the half full bottle into the sea of juggalos. The 09 GOTJ will be the tenth so you know it's going to be the wickedest. I MUST GO! MMFWCL to all homies who down wit da clown Jester The Juggalo

the hubble space telescope cost 1.5 million dollars
The cost of building the Hubble Space Telescope is around the $2.5 billion mark. With operational costs, the figure is close to $6 billion.
The Hubble Space Telescope was designd and manufactured on Earth, at a cost of about 1.2 billion dollars. It was then carried into space aboard the Space Shuttle, and inserted into orbit on April 24, 1990.
The cost at launch was 1.5 billion US dollars. There are ongoing costs to operate it and maintain it. Pictures from the HST have changed our understanding of the Universe. Astronomy and Astrophysics have been improved greatly by the HST.
The original total cost estimate for the Hubble Space Telescope started out at US$400 million. It eventually cost over $2.5 billion to construct. Overall, with repairs, upgrades and operating it, Hubble had cost US$10 billion as of 2010. These figures were reported by NASA in 2012. (See the references in the related links.)

Money, it all comes down to money. The Hubble telescope is a multimillion dollar thing, i think its total cost is in the billions. So imagine what a better one would cost! Plus, the Hubble telescope has been able to do everything we needed it to. So until it can't keep up, i think we will keep good old Mr Hubble.
Due to it's tremendous success as measured by pictures never before available from deep outer space, the telescope's only possible negative would be it's cost.
They use many types of telescopes. You can probably pick up the cheaper ones for as little as $25,000. The Hubble Space Telescope cost $1,500,000,000 ($1.5 billion) just to build.
