Hiroshima and Nagasaki Atomic Bombings
How much did the scientists and other people involved with the creation of the atom bomb know about the effects it would cause before the bombs were actually dropped?
They knew almost everything. In order to make the bomb they had extensive knowledge about how the atom works and the results of radiation on people and animals. They knew what they were doing, then left it to the politicians to decide.

What countries were involved in the Dropping of the Atomic Bomb?
The nuclear bomb was first partially developed by the Germans. British Intel located a number of documents and were able to produce a small scale device and tested it in a Cornwall Mine. The US were given details of the British device and with the assistance of the UK and two German scientists, created the Two devices that were to be dropped on the Japs. So, the US, England and Germany were actually involved.

What do you mean, "leader"? Harry Truman was president of the US when both the first and second atomic bombs were dropped. The commander of the aircraft the "second" bomb (actually the third detonated, but the second to be "dropped" since the first was a test explosion and was not dropped but rather mounted on a tower) was dropped from was Major Charles W. Sweeney.
